What Is a DNS leak?
DNS leak is the leakage of information about the user's IP address from the DNS server when resolving via the external interface when the proxy server/VPN is connected.
With a DNS leak, the Internet provider of the user can access the list of websites visited. Also, the user can become a victim of hacker attacks such as DNS cache snooping and DNS spoofing (replacing the user's DNS cache with a false record that matches the DNS name of the trusted host).
There are several ways to protect against DNS leaks:
-
Manually specify the required DNS servers in the connection settings.
-
Install special proxy-fixers on the device, for example VPB, which intercept DNS requests and redirect them.
-
Disabling various side plug-ins, such as WebRTC, Java, Flash.
